All visitors head to Ely Cathedral located in the heart of the city and opposite Poets House Hotel. This imposing structure towers across the fens for miles around. Fans of the Netflix drama The Crown will recognise the building instantly. Dominating the skyline, it is one of England’s most beautiful and largest Cathedrals. Daniel oversees both ‘The Dining Room’ with 40 covers which is open daily for dinner (lunch at weekends) and he also oversees the lounge which offers lunch and afternoon tea daily. The dinner menu is priced £20 for one course, £25 for two courses and £30 for three courses.

Close to Ely is Wicken Fen Nature Reserve, ideal for a day trip. This was the first reserve owned by the National Trust. Today, it is one of Europe’s most important wetlands home to over 9000 of the rarest and most endangered species. Throughout the year there is a wonderful array of wildlife to see. Guests can enjoy shorter strolls or longer rambles and several walks are available to download via the National Trust’s website.
