Rosamunde Pilcher, the award winning British author who has helped elevate Cornwall’s international image through her books, which are particularly popular in Germany, will be hosting a one off dinner and book signing on Wednesday 18th September 2013.
German, Swiss & Austrian visitors to Cornwall have been drawn by Rosamunde Pilcher’s portrayal of this beautiful corner of the British Isles. For years now, British visitors have also arrived in Cornwall having read one of Rosamunde’s novels. German TV station ZDF has produced many of her stories into TV films. Cornish tourism has thrived as a result and this special event will celebrate everything Rosamunde Pilcher has accomplished for Cornwall. The Headland is the ideal celebration of all things Cornwall, perched on a north Cornish cliff top looking out to the wild Atlantic facing 3000 miles of ocean. The dinner will provide guests with a front row seat to the very best that Cornwall has to offer whilst meeting this celebrated author.
Rosamunde Pilcher was awarded the O.B.E. in the 2002 Queen’s New Year’s Honours List for her services to Literature. In Germany, the TV film adaptations are some of the most popular programmes on ZDF which also helps explain direct flights between Germany and Newquay. Rosamunde Pilcher is arguably one of the UK’s foremost authors and this unique one off dinner will provide fans with an opportunity to raise a glass to her and all of Cornwall.
Wednesday 18th September will see guests arrive for a drinks reception at 7pm with Rosamunde Pilcher. A 3 course dinner will then follow and includes coffee. After dinner, Rosamunde Pilcher will hold a short Q&A before signing copies of her books in The Ballroom. Tickets are priced £35.00 and include a signed copy of a Rosamunde Pilcher novel for each diner booked for this very special event.
Guests booked on this dinner wishing to stay overnight can do so at the special discounted rate of £99.00 per night which also includes breakfast. This rate is based on two sharing a Courtyard double or twin bedded room for the whole weekend.
The Headland has been family run for over 30 years offering unique sea views like nowhere else in Cornwall with activities to keep everyone busy and enchanted. It is the ideal base to discover and rediscover time and time again using the secret locations and sights unveiled in Rosamunde Pilcher’s novels. The Headland is home to a 96 bedroom hotel and 39 luxury 5 star 1, 2 & 3 bedroom cottages all by the ocean’s edge.
